Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I don’t have any experience with acrylics, where do I start?
A. It may seem like a daunting experience
but do not worry, our experienced staff will be able to guide you
through the process from start to finish. The manufacturing process in
general follows a similar path. Upon receiving information on the
required design we will provide the client with detailed illustrations
typically supplied in Adobe PDF format and, after order confirmation,
supply a sample piece to the client within ten working days. We await
confirmation of an approval, or alternatively for any suggested
amendments to be made in which case an improved sample may be provided,
before commencing production of the full order which is usually
supplied within an additional ten working days.
Q. How long does it take to deliver an order?
A. We estimate that the production of a
sample piece takes approximately ten working days after the desired
artwork is provided. Once the final design and sample has been approved
by the client we estimate that the full order can usually be completed
within the following ten working days.
Q. What if the client requires a job to be completed as soon as possible?
A. We are committed to satisfying our
clients and can, if required, complete an order in a short period of
time. Typically, the speed at which an order can be completed is
related to the complexity of the piece required. We are unable to give
quotes for such an instance as each order will be unique in nature but
do not hesitate to contact our staff who will be able to help, e.g. We
have in the past provided an order of ten tombstones with dimensions of
160mm x 100 mm x 20mm with a card insert within a three day period.
Q. What information is required from the client at the beginning of the process?
A. We find it helpful if the client has a
general idea for the content (text, logos and any additional
information to be published), the design (shape of final piece, size
and quantity) and the delivery date for the order. However, if this is
not the case then one of our designers will be more than able to assist
with any enquiries that you have in relation to the design or artwork
process.
Q. Is the client responsible for any of the ideas required during the process?
A. We find it helpful if the client
already has a general idea for what they require. If this is not the
case then any of our experienced design team will be able to provide
suitable ideas.
Q. What kind of materials can be embedded in acrylic?
A. There are a wide variety of
materials that can be embedded in acrylic: these include but are not
limited to; wood, glass, metal, card, bone and some plastics. It should
be noted that not all items provided to us may be suitable for
embedding due to the manufacturing processes involved. In any instances
when specific materials are not suitable we are able to manufacture or
modify existing materials that will achieve a similar result.
Q. Are there any risks involved?
A. There is an inherent risk in
embedding any foreign material in acrylic which can lead to damage,
especially of fragile items; however we can carry out tests on any
material to check if it is suitable and if not can suggest substitute
materials that may achieve the desired effect. Unfortunately we are
unable to accept any responsibility for the damage or deterioration of
any items caused during the production process.
Q. What if the client wishes their order to be personalised?
A. There are several methods of
personalisation which we offer if required by the client. These include
laser engraving, external screen printing and sand blasting.
Q. What if I require a specific shape of acrylic?
A. All design pieces that we provide
are customised to meet the needs of the customer. We have many years
experience dealing with the properties of acrylic, as a result we are
aware of the variety of shapes that are feasible and we will aspire to
supply whatever it is that the client requires.
Q. What is the optimal way of maintaining pieces once delivered?
A. We recommend for the optimal durability of each piece
that the acrylic is cleaned using a soft cloth soaked in warm water
with a mild detergent liquid and kept away from direct sunlight.
